The villa offers an ideal balance of solid and void. Organized on the site as a series of open and closed volumes with spaces between that become entry points. As well as transitions and covered outdoor living spaces.
The area is tremendously arid and hot in summer. Due to this environmental condition the design uses both the buildings orientation on the site and cantilevered masses to protect the interiors from the sun. Simultaneously opening the house to light, air and the surrounding landscape.
Sliding ah! systems allow a seamless indoor/outdoor experience, a critical design request. With 13m long and 4m high, two ah!38 pocket motorized, trirail window. This large window connects the main living room to the pool and to a mature oak woodland.
