La Moraleja Villa
Have a look to this family house, a XTEN Architecture project located on the outskirts of Madrid.
The villa offers an ideal balance of solid and void, organized on the site as a series of open and closed volumes with spaces between that become entry points, transitions and covered outdoor living spaces.
The area is tremendously arid and hot in summer, an environmental condition that led to a design that uses both the buildings orientation on the site and cantilevered masses to protect the interiors from the sun, while simultaneously opening the house to light, air and the surrounding landscape.
Sliding ah! systems allows a seamless indoor/outdoor experience, a critical design request. With 13m long and 4m high, two ah!38 pocket motorized, trirail window connect the main living room to the pool and to a mature oak woodland.
