House in Cascais
This private House in Cascais, designed by Openbook Architects, makes the most of its hilltop location.
The house was designed to seamlessly integrate its structure with the natural green exterior. This project includes ah!38 minimalist windows which allow the best experience of its stunning views. The rectangular shapes of the building took the irregular topography into account to improve the functional distribution of living spaces. The main entrance acts as the “central axis” of the house which connects all the different areas.
Facing west, the house creates a unique dialogue with its garden, pool and wider surroundings. Its 8 panes of 3 meter-tall x 15 meter-wide (45 sqm) sliding panoramah! multi-rail glass windows and doors deliver complete transparency and offer a harmonious transition balancing functionality and aesthetics. For sun protection, wood louvers were integrated in the same ah!38 sliding system that not only opens the house to light but also creates a facade dynamic game.
