Bighorn House
Experience the unmatched exclusivity and luxury of the Bighorn House, nestled in the picturesque foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains, thoughtfully designed by Whipple Russell Architects.
The house was built adjacent to the Mountain Course in the Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, California. The design of the central living space forms a theatrical proscenium, framing the desert-scape scene of mountains, trees and sky. The street view underlines clean horizontals, repeated in the driveway paving and entry steps. The pond courtyard, with a trio of fountains, calmly smooth out the transition from the outside world into the interior space – with a straight view to the mountains and sky.
Clerestory windows at the roofline are an essential design element. Sliding panoramah! windows and doors bring a beautiful balance between the home and its natural surroundings, creating a harmonious dialogue between them. Featuring stunning minimalist architecture, while the structure has an indoor/outdoor open feeling, it opens up the view to the swimming pool from every vantage point in the house. The 10m ah!38 pocket and birail solutions ensure that all spaces receive plenty of natural light.
The outdoor living space provides all of the elements: water, fire and artful landscaping. Also, there is a sophisticated design and engineering element underlying the seamless extension from the indoors to the outdoors.
At 465sqm, there’s a simplicity to this house that honors the mountains, the view, the relationship to the surroundings and the water.
